The Death This Year

The death this year
has been an ordinary death
of the kind that attracts no mourners.
I have grown slightly older
in a town with many boarded windows
and streets smelling of urine.
I write poems
because I can no longer remember
the touch of my hand
on a woman's breast.
One has to love something.
