AN AMERICAN STORY: UNEASY PIECES by Peter Krok

Dark lengthens
You're tired of summer
Same old names and places
Dew silvers morning fields
The chill is in the air

Geese arc
Towards Georgia
More trees turn color
Green wears
Into rust

Like the leaves
It's time
You take a rake
Sweep the falling skin
In a pile
              And leave
